Implicitly it celebrates the joy that fashion brings even in difficult times - dressing up not only makes the wearer feel good, but also brings colour and creativity to city streets and drawings rooms. We couldn't agree more and as London turns on the lights for the festive season, we've decided to celebrate the song with our sharpest outfits. The looks are daring with contrasting colours, gorgeous crushed velvet fabrics and intricate laces, as well as some edgy footwear. One thing's for sure, we'll make sure you're turning heads wherever you go.

London is a city in love with black attire and we can see why - it looks so good against London's monumental sandstone architecture and creamy Georgian terraces. But, to make sure you stand out from the crowd add some striking white accessories: Gentryportofino's white combat boots and mohair and nylon puffa give this classic wool dress a rock n'roll vibe.

Dresses are often overlooked in winter in favour of trousers and skirts, but a great winter dress is a wonderful thing. Fabiana Filippi have knocked it out of the park with this grey-and-white plaid chiffon number threading with lurex which twinkles in the sun. Pair with Gentryportofino's relaxed cardigan coat and boots for the ultimate street cred.

As the temperature drops you'll want to reach for one of Lorena Antoniazzi's thick cable-knit rollnecks. But sweaters and pants needn't look too rustic or twee if you build your whole outfit around a single colour. Grey is the perfect palette for this ranging from the palest ice of Antoniazzi's padded puffa to Piazza's pewter trousers and Santoni's slate grey trainers.

Crushed silk velvet is one of the most luxurious fabrics, and its one of the reasons we love winter so much. It is the perfect material for the season: soft but with a high sheen that reflects the cool light. Gentryportofino's trout-coloured sheaf dress is an absolute stunner. So simple and so sharp. Pair with a wrap-around belt and Tess Van Ghert's sleek accessories, of course!

Every winter wardrobe needs a standout coat and pair of boots and these are our winners for the 2022 season. Gentryportofino's long dressing-gown coat fits with the current desire for comfort, warmth and ease, yet it still looks a million dollars. Similarly, their sharp-toed, short cowboy boots have a super edgy silhouette while being an absolute joy to wear.

Finally, a trouser suit is a must in a winter wardrobe as they can carry you through the day. Occasionally, they can also steal the show at parties due to their air of relaxed elegance. We think you'll agree Gentryportofino's crushed velvet suit and exquisite lace blouse is one of those winners.
