The aristocratic Corsini family (seen above off foraging) embody the spirit of the season, so it's no wonder that their 1000-year-old castle, Reschio, just won Conde Nast's country hotel of the year. It's vast and just as fabulous as they are and has only taken 25 years to bring to light. We suggest you browse our lovely new stock for some superlative autumn pieces and then pack a valise pronto and head for the wild Umbrian hills. Truffles and all manner of good things await you.

Arriving in style at a country pad isn't always easy. How do you strike the right balance between comfort, style and informality. We have just the answer, Antoniazzi's hay-coloured short suit with its double-breasted blazer.

At the heart of Reschio are the Corsini's elegant Lusitano thoroughbreds. Don't let the side down with any old boots, only the best will do, like Antoniazzi's butter-soft, caramel-coloured riding boots.

Autumn is my favourite month as many of you know. It is so exquisitely beautiful with its rich and mellow colours. This caramel and grey cable-knit sweater captures the season's soft-edges perfectly.

You'll need to be prepared for every eventuality in the country. Who knows when the urge for a bit of wild swimming will strike? You'll never regret packing a pair of Antoniazzi's superior cashmere joggers.

Never fear, although Reschio is productive working farm, inside there's ne'er a wellington boot insight. So pack something smart for firelit afternoons - Aspesi's twill silk shirt dress over a cashmere rollneck is just the ticket.

Autumn is also full of textural details, just like our new Zanellato bags. They're fashioned in the Veneto in a boutique workshop and the soft, pliable leather results in chic, understated bags in a selection of wonderful colours.

At Reschio you're going to be out and about a lot, walking, riding and foraging for truffles. You need good walking pants and Lorena Antoniazzi's wool joggers can't be beaten for comfort and style.

Everyone deserves good shoes, even the horses! We're sure heritage cobblers, Santoni, will agree. We're thrilled to stock some of their signature styles - like these graded brown brogues - for the first time this season.

There will be lunch to consider, of course, and tea in the palm-filled orangery, so bring a dress or two along. One of our favourite's this season is Aspesi's lovely silk dress in an Old Rose and Forest Green print.

You'll also want something for lazy coffee mornings or afternoon's curled up with a good book. Fabiana's thick silk t-shirts are a delicious indulgence, but we think you deserve them.

Drinks at the bar bookend every day with a well-made Negroni or Bellini. To stand up to all that brass and the gilt-framed paintings opt for a silk-and-suede combo like this ruffled blouse and skirt. Finish with a few diamonds.

The key take away for this season is investing in classic pieces that are made of quality materials and are comfortable and elegant when worn. Fabiana Fillippi's fine knit rollneck and wool trousers is a perfect example. Great style is timeless, just like a good jazz pianist in a great bar.
